After a hearty breakfast, we took the train back to Taipei in 1.5 hours. Our search for a hotel was not very lucky at first – suddenly everything was extremely expensive. However, as we usually have a bit of luck, we found cheap accommodation at “The Dealer Hotel”. After a walk, we moved into our room after receiving a huge food package with instant noodles and winning cookies and apple soap in a small hotel lottery.

We then took the metro to visit the huge Memorial Hall grounds, the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall, including the changing of the guard and then the Taipei World Financial Center, Taipei 101 for short.

We wanted to enjoy our last dinner in style. Toilet restaurants are a big trend in Taiwan (Asia?) – we simply had to try them out. Even if the ambience took some getting used to, the food and drinks were delicious. Finally, we wandered through another night market, where Mel bought 2 pairs of shoes; as usual, there was nothing for Andreas.

On the last day, we just strolled around Taipei a little and first visited an old part of the city, a temple where a ceremony was taking place – it seemed like a school graduation ceremony to us – and then, unfortunately, it was time to board the plane back home.
