The next morning we drove again all known routes of the park to see if we should have the luck to spot the rhino from yesterday. First we found many monkeys and again hundreds, if not thousands of flamingos.

At a main road, directly opposite the lake they were then. Several rhinos posed in front of our cameras and did not let us disturb them while eating or sleeping. So with these photos we could now officially confirm to have seen the African Big 5 – buffalo, elephant, rhino, lion and leopard.

Since Andreas had some practice in the meantime off-road and dared more and more, came what had to come. When crossing a muddy area, the window of the passenger side was not completely closed and Mel including things got a few black splashes off. The drive back to Nairobi went without incident. Shortly after 17:00 we arrived and dropped off the dirty car in front of our hotel. No problem at all for our landlord – we talked about our experiences for another hour.

When we discovered Somali specialties in the hotel’s own restaurant while browsing the menu, we couldn’t help it, we had to try. Unfortunately, a small mistake, as it turned out. Mel had camel meat with rice, the “meat” was very tough. Andreas had beans with warm milk, sugar and oil – very hard to get used to. In addition, he was served warm camel milk as a drink. A terrible taste – somehow very fishy – and after 3 sips just did not go more of it pure before the restaurant would have needed a basic cleaning.
