The day before, we had already been to a diving school (the only one on site in the immediate vicinity), but they had not offered any dives for today, as bad weather was expected. Andreas had gratefully declined the instructor’s offer to make a few test dives in the pool today in order to dive directly with the group to 18m the next day.<\/p>\n\n

So we had a morning to relax. Andreas enjoyed the hammock on our veranda after we returned from the hospital. Since the end of our vacation was coming closer and closer, it was time again to do a PCR test. The test was quick and uncomplicated, the only thing that made us gasp was the price.<\/p>\n\n

While Andreas rested in the hammock and Mel typed diligently on the notebook, time flew by. And so it was quickly afternoon and time for our only agenda item that day – a dhow safari into the sunset.<\/p>\n\n

01.10.2021 – Robinson \u201eAndreas\u201c Crusoe<\/h2>\n\n

The next morning started unfortunately without breakfast, because we had been forgotten and had to be early at the dive center.<\/p>\n\n

After a short briefing and trying on the equipment, it was again directly on an inflatable boat. This time, however, it remained a quiet 45-minute ride to a first island. Arrived on Bazaruto, a small sun shelter was erected, while there was a short briefing for the divers on the beach. Andreas got a bottle of water in his hand and already the boat was up and away with all the others.<\/p>\n\n

While Mel and the others were cavorting underwater again and had a lot to see (unfortunately Andreas always gets the underwater pictures of Mel only when we are back in Germany), Andreas started to explore the island and especially the huge sand dunes after a cool down.<\/p>\n\n

So 2 hours passed in no time. When the divers returned, Andreas had to hoist himself onto the dinghy because manatees (or sea pigs) had been spotted. These dugongs are very rare (almost extinct) and it was nice to be able to observe these animals.<\/p>\n\n

After a short lunch break, the camp was moved to the neighboring island of Benguerra and Andreas was again left lonely. This may sound worse now than it really was, because he enjoyed the peace and quiet and time out on the islands.<\/p>\n\n
